Tell us what happened

To help us reproduce a problem, include:

Please reproduce the problem with a small synthetic example or one that has been fully anonymised before you send it. Do not send a real exported workbook: its hidden snapshot sheet contains original issue values and account IDs. Remove names, email addresses, user identifiers, identifying links, confidential content, and identifying file or screenshot metadata. Replacing a name while leaving identifying details is not enough.

Ordinary support does not include access to your Jira site or investigation of live customer datasets. Do not send passwords, access tokens, or Jira exports containing personal or confidential customer data. If you cannot reproduce it safely, describe it first so we can discuss another approach before any additional information is shared.

Common fixes

The app is not in the Apps menu

A Jira administrator installs the app once from Atlassian Marketplace. It then appears in issue search under Apps → Edit Issues in Excel and on its own page under Apps in the sidebar.

Jira asks to “Allow access”

The first time each person opens the app, Jira asks them to let it work with Jira on their behalf. Choose Allow access. The app then acts only with that person’s own permissions.

A column or cell is grey

Grey cells are read-only. The field is not on the issue’s edit screen, you cannot edit it, its type is not supported yet, or a description has rich formatting that a spreadsheet cell cannot keep. Edits to grey cells are listed as ignored.

The review shows a conflict

Someone changed that value in Jira after you exported the workbook. The review shows the exported, your, and current values. Leave it to keep Jira’s value, or tick Overwrite to apply yours.

Some changes failed

The result shows Jira’s own message for each failure, for example a required field or a value that is not allowed. Fix the cells and upload the same workbook again: changes already saved are recognised and skipped.

The app says “License needed”

Ask your Jira administrator to check the app’s trial or subscription.
