Mochibu

A tiny friend on your wrist, at home on your iPhone

Mochibu is a cozy virtual pet for grown-ups. A few seconds a day are enough: a bowl, a pat, a little game. Look in from either screen, and the other one knows.

Go on, tap either screenA small web toy made from the app's own art. In the app, care crosses in the background and can take a little while.

One pet, not two

The watch isn't a remote, and the iPhone isn't a copy. Mochibu is one small life that you can look in on from whichever is closer. Both devices keep the same diary of your days together, so neither one is ever behind for long.

Care counts wherever you give it
A pat on your wrist is a pat on your iPhone. Bowls, games and bedtimes all land in the same day.
What's yours comes along
Coins, the pantry, outfits, rooms and the album belong to you, not to a screen. Coins bought on one device arrive on the other.
Apart is fine
iPhone left at home? The watch carries on by itself. What you did crosses over the next time the two can reach each other.

The diary they share

Nothing here is overwritten. Tap in the toy above, and it's written here too.

A day together

Most of it happens in seconds, on whichever screen is closest.

  1. Morning

    On your wrist

A bowl before coffee: one tap on Feed, or Double Tap with the coffee in your other hand.

    On your iPhone

Still in your pocket. One free bowl left today.

  2. Lunch break

    On your wrist

A complication on your watch face counts down until they're home.

    On your iPhone

Share a meal, finish a little game, pick somewhere new. Off they go on the day's adventure, and you can follow the trip on the Lock Screen.

  3. Afternoon

    On your wrist

Home again, with a souvenir on the doorstep and a few coins. It waits three days, so there's no hurry.

    On your iPhone

The souvenir has its place in the album.

  4. Evening

    On your wrist

Pick a new room on the iPhone, and it shows behind them here too.

    On your iPhone

On the sofa, decorate the room. Decorations draw visiting friends, who sign the guestbook and sometimes leave a letter.

  5. Bedtime

    On your wrist

Tuck them in from a Smart Stack card, without opening the app.

    On your iPhone

Fast asleep here too. Nothing to do until morning.

Nothing changes while they sleep

Quiet hours run from 22:00 to 7:00 unless you change them, and days off can keep their own. A day without your watch is fine too.

Who does what

Everyday care works in both places. The watch is for quick moments, and the iPhone has room for the rest.

Eight little friends

Each has their own personality and voice, remembers their favorite food, game and room, and grows from egg to grown-up, one good day at a time. Say hello.

I'm at my roundest when you're around.

Mochi's egg is free. The others unlock with coins, earned or bought.

The real thing

Screens from the app, on iPhone and Apple Watch.

Fair and clear

  • Two bowls a day are free, and they keep a cared-for pet happy. So are pats, games and adventures.
  • Care earns coins. Good days, weekly streaks, growing up and adventures all pay, and the first egg to hatch brings enough for a first outfit.
  • Coins buy extras: snacks and feasts, outfits, rooms, decorations, new companions and themed collections. Packs are sold in the app, and the App Store shows the price for your country.
  • Every coin price shows what it costs in money. Nothing sold is random, nothing has a countdown, and coins never expire.
  • Left alone for a long while, they go exploring, and come home to the next bowl you set out.

Questions

How do the watch and the iPhone stay in step?

Every bowl, pat and game goes into your pet's diary, and both devices keep the same diary. New entries cross in the background, so they can take a little while to arrive. The two diaries are merged and nothing is overwritten, so care from both always counts, and coins cannot be spent twice.

What if my iPhone and watch are apart?

Carry on with whichever you have. What you do waits and crosses over when the two can reach each other again. Until then, a check-in from the iPhone may not know about care you gave on the watch.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. Mochibu works on an iPhone alone, with the same pet, widgets with buttons and Control Center controls. Complications, Smart Stack cards and Double Tap are what a watch adds.

Does the watch need the iPhone app?

No. The watch app works on its own for care, games, the day's adventure, the pantry, the wardrobe, companions, coin packs and the album, and a watch whose iPhone does not have the app keeps its own iCloud backup. If you install the iPhone app later, your pet comes over.

Which Apple Watch and iPhone does it run on?

iPhone with iOS 18 or later and Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later, which means Series 4 or newer, any SE, and any Ultra. Feeding with Double Tap needs watchOS 11 and a watch with the gesture, such as Series 9 or Ultra 2.

Do I have to pay to keep my pet happy?

No. Two bowls of food a day are free, and they cover what your pet needs. Pats, games and daily adventures are free too. Coins buy extras: snacks and feasts, outfits, rooms, decorations, new companions and themed collections.

How do I earn coins without buying them?

The first egg to hatch brings 200 coins, enough for a first outfit on day one. After that, every good day earns coins, a week of good days in a row earns a bonus, growing up earns a present, and each day's adventure brings a few more. Coins never expire and belong to you, not to one pet.

What happens if I forget my pet for a day, or take my watch off?

Nothing bad. Nothing changes while your pet sleeps, and a pet with both needs full lasts about three and a half days without any care. After that, once energy and spirit have both stayed low for sixteen waking hours in a row, your pet wanders off to explore. Set out a bowl and they come home as they were, with both needs at half.

Can my pet die?

Only if you choose the classic rule in Settings. There, the same sixteen hours end a life instead. If it happens, you can start a new egg for free, or use coins, earned or bought, to bring your pet back as they were.

I got a new iPhone. Where is my pet?

Your pet's history is backed up, encrypted, to your private iCloud. Sign in with the same Apple Account and open Mochibu; your pet, coins, outfits, rooms, decorations and album come back.
